The Inspection

Twenty-one points.
Nothing glossed over.

A proper pre-summer tune-up is not a 15-minute drive-by with a can of coil spray. It's a careful read of the whole system, outdoor unit to thermostat, organized into four domains, each with the readings that catch the problems before they catch you.

Electrical

  • Start & run capacitor µF reading
  • Contactor pitting & wear
  • Compressor amp draw under load
  • Fan motor amp draw & bearings
  • Disconnect & whip connections
  • Thermostat calibration & staging

Refrigeration

  • High & low-side pressure readings
  • Superheat & subcool verification
  • Condenser coil cleaning
  • Evaporator coil & icing check
  • Refrigerant lineset insulation
  • Temperature split across coil

Airflow

  • 1" air filter inspection & change
  • Blower wheel & housing dust loading
  • Return & supply static pressure
  • Duct connections at air handler
  • Register delivery temperatures

Drainage & Controls

  • Condensate drain flush + treatment
  • Drain safety float switch test
  • Condensate pump (if equipped)
  • Model, serial, system age recorded

And one thing most HVAC companies won't give you, a written report you actually keep.

Single page. Every reading listed, in spec or not. The exact document your landlord, home inspector, or warranty company is going to ask for if something goes wrong later.

Why Pre-Summer

Spring is the only window
your AC actually gets a break.

In South Florida, residential systems run nine to ten months a year, roughly 3,000 hours against the heat. Between June and August we take more emergency no-cool calls than the rest of the year combined, and almost all of them would have shown up cheaply in April.

01.

Drain lines clog quietly, then fail loudly

A condensate drain carries 15 to 20 gallons of water a day in summer. Algae builds up fast. The day it blocks, the safety float shuts your system down, almost always on the hottest afternoon of the year. A ten-minute flush in April solves 90% of these calls.

02.

Capacitors weaken before they quit

The single most-replaced summer part. A capacitor at 80% of rated µF will still run your system, until the day it can't start a compressor pulling against 95° heat. We measure them, flag anything below 90%, and replace it on a scheduled Tuesday. Not a Saturday at 9 p.m.

03.

Salt air takes its due, slowly

East of I-95 or near the Intracoastal, the ocean is quietly eating your condenser coil. We flag corrosion early, rinse it with a coil-safe cleaner, and add years to unit life that would otherwise be lost to gradual fin degradation.

Within 30 minutes of submitting my inquiry, the technician was here. He diagnosed the issue immediately and fixed it in 15 minutes, incredibly professional. I've already recommended Champion to two neighbors.

Six things people ask most often before booking. If something isn't covered here, Tyler's line is at the top of the page, feel free to use it.

A full 21-point inspection of the cooling system. We clean the condenser and evaporator coils, check refrigerant pressures, measure temperature split at the registers, test capacitors and contactors, inspect electrical connections, flush the condensate drain line, calibrate the thermostat, and leave you with a written system health report.

Parts and refrigerant aren't included, if anything needs replacement we give you a flat-rate quote before touching it. Nothing gets done without your sign-off.

60 to 90 minutes for a single system. Homes with two or more units run closer to 90 minutes to 2 hours. We don't rush. If anyone tells you a proper tune-up takes 20 minutes, they're skipping the parts that matter.

In South Florida, yes. Systems here run 9–10 months a year, roughly 3,000 hours annually, versus about 1,000 hours up north. That's why Florida systems typically need two service visits a year to stay reliable, and why most manufacturer warranties require documented annual maintenance to stay valid.

We show you the issue, photos, meter readings, the actual part, explain the options in plain English, and write a flat-rate quote. Nothing is done without your approval. About 70% of tune-ups need nothing beyond the service itself. If yours is one of them, we'll be the ones to tell you.

Yes. Same rate across Palm Beach, Martin, and Broward counties. No hidden zone fees or travel charges. If we come to you, you pay $49.

Yes. Our Champions Club membership includes two tune-ups a year, priority scheduling, 15% off repairs, and no overtime fees on emergency calls. Join within 30 days of your tune-up and the $49 is credited toward your first year. Ask your tech on the day of, no pressure either way.
